Last day of Wool Classing School, met so many wonderful kindred fiber-spirits! It was such joy working, and learning with everyone!

We got more into the nitty gritty, with more hands on classing, and the shearing students did excellent- weird not being one of them.

Lesser known fact: when there is a colored sheep(grey, brown, black etc) they are considered contamination. This is due to the fact that textile manufacturers really only want white, its easier to dye. When there is even a trace(few strands etc) the fleece/ or collections of fleeces(bale) are “contaminated”. Silly if you ask a handspinner- or “smaller” producer.
Lets just say her fleece came home with me.

Sometimes there is the most gigantic ram, who is generally sweet, but oh so big. Took Giovanni’s calming presence, and Sarah skilled/adaptable shearing to get it done. By far one the tallest sheep we’ve shorn!

Back in Nov, Erin planted two nearly identical beds of garlic from @keenegarlic, the only difference being the bed on the right has wool pellets mixed in with the soil, helping to preserve moisture and contribute nutrients.

Almost six months later, the bed on the left is a lighter green, and not quite as robust as the dark green bed on the right. Cannot wait to see just how much of a difference these wool pellets will make once harvested!
